So this is how it begins...
I ask too many questions. When I was a kid, I got in trouble a lot at home. Not because I was a bad kid, I was a CURIOUS kid. My mom bought me a hand-held cassette recorder when I was 8 years old and, really, I blame her because that's when the trouble began. Trouble for her. Fun for me.
If my older sister brought a date home, I'd be crawling across the floor on my hands and knees like a pre-teen 007 James Bond, planting my recorder and sneaking away. I realize that sounds pervy, but I wasn't thinking pervy. I was thinking about ways to bust her talking about things that would irritate my parents. Later, I'd go over that tape with a fine-tooth comb looking for anything that could be used against her with the folks. If she'd have friends over, I'd plant my recorder and record those conversations and sleepovers too. She thought it was creepy, but it's how I found out she was planning to "borrow" the parents car late one night, without a license, and I was able to use that tape for more than 3 years until she'd finally had enough of the blackmail and declared "PLAY THEM THE TAPE! I DON'T CARE! THEY WON'T CARE!" So I did, and they cared, and the victory was mine. :)
I'm now much older, and little has changed. My hand-held cassette recorder is now a camcorder, but other than that my curiosity and investigative spirit remains. Maybe I'll take my journalism degree and go in that direction when I'm done with school. Tracking down secrets, seeking the truth within a mountain of BS and being as sneaky as humanly possible -- I find great joy in these endeavors. Stay tuned, because you just never know.
Let the games begin...
